Background: David was born in Edinburgh, educated at Daniel Stewart's College and graduated from Edinburgh and Heriot Watt Universities. Holding professional qualifications in Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, David began his career in the defence industry with Ferranti Ltd. Having spent time honing his technical skills in design and manufacturing, he then pursued a management career running operations in Radar Systems, Navigation Systems, Transformers, Simulators and Test Equipment with a number of blue chip companies, culminating in his appointment as Operations Director and Project Review Director in GEC.
In 1998 he started up his own business providing Business Management Advice and Assistance to SME's in general and through other agencies. His company provides mentoring services to the Institute for Independent Business International (IIB). Using a unique software analysis tool (OpiumPro) he provides Strategic Analysis Guidance to both the SME and corporate marketplace. Working in close association with a tried and tested core of associates, he provides advice and assistance to companies across a wide field of functionality and endeavour. He also provides non-executive director support for a number of companies.
David has been a registered Mentor with Scottish Enterprise Tayside since the Scheme's original conception and is a Fellow of the Institute for Independent Business International.
